BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE FRENCH COTTON POPPIES & BERRIES c1870 |

This is a beautiful panel of antique French printed cotton, or toile. It is quite an early piece, dating to around 1870, maybe slightly earlier. It has a lovely patina of age, an ivory background with gorgeous ragged poppies and Japanese anenomies in claret and cream, the detail is amazing, helping to give such an early date. The large florals are linked with simple leaf and berry branches, again, lovely detail, in cream, claret, blueish grey and pink. The fabric has a good patina of age, some faint yellowing, but this is commensurate with age, a quality and look to be treasured. It has 1 small hole, pictured, a few pinholes only seen when held up to the light, and the odd little mark that does not detract (please note, I would be more than happy to accept returns if you don't agree, that would mean I could keep it!). This is a really special piece, it would be lovely framed, or used for a special project, or perfect to add to a collection.
