PILOT WINGS FROM THE 1950s POST WAR
THIS COMES FROM A PILOTS ESTATE WHICH WAS
PREDOMINANTLY 50s 60s 70s MEMORABILIA
THESE WINGS HAVE BEEN SEWN ON AND USED

AFTER THE WAR, THE ONLY TEMPLATE FOR WINGS WAS FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER WHICH SUPPLIED THE RAF WINGS
HENCE THE STYLE IS THE SAME AS RAF WINGS WITH
ONLY THE CROWN AND CENTRE BEA CHANGED
ITS EXTREMELY EASY TO DATE THIS BADGE TO THE FIFTIES AS THE CENTRAL RED LAUREL WAS ONLY USED USED IN THIS DECADE FOR A FEW YEARS AFTER THE WAR
ALSO MANUFACTURERS OF ALL ITEMS USED THE CORONATION CROWN WHICH WAS ALWAYS USED FOR ROYAL CORONATIONS
HOWEVER THE CROWN WAS REMODELLED FOR THE QUEENS CORONATION AND THE CROWN CHANGED ON ALL BADGES TO FALL IN LINE WITH THE MONARCHS CROWN AT THE TIME
BECAUSE OF THE RARITY AND VALUE OF THIS ITEM

On 31 March 1924, Britain's four pioneer airlines - Instone Air Line, Handley Page Transport, Daimler Airways (a successor to AT&T) and British Air Marine Navigation - merged to form Imperial Airways, which developed its Empire routes to Australia and Africa[2]. Meanwhile a number of smaller UK air transport companies had started flights. These merged in 1935 to form the original privately owned British Airways Ltd. Following a government review, Imperial Airways and British Airways were nationalised in 1939 to form the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC). Post-war, BOAC continued to operate long-haul services, other than routes to South America - these were flown by British South American Airways, which was merged back into BOAC in 1949. Continental European and domestic flights were flown by a new nationalised airline, British European Airways (BEA), which compulsorily took over the routes of existing UK independent airlines [2]. In 1952 BOAC flew the De Havilland Comet to Johannesburg, halving the previous flight time. The birth of the mass package-holiday business meant change for the airline industry. BEA met the challenge by establishing BEA Airtours in 1960. In 1972 BOAC and BEA were combined under the newly formed British Airways Board, with the separate airlines coming together as British Airways in 1974, under the guidance of David Nicolson as Chairman of the BA Board. British Airways, simultaneously with Air France, inaugurated the world's first supersonic passenger service with Concorde in January 1976

Items which are wrongly described may be returned within One week. As the items I sell are aimed at collectors, the stickers I sell will generally have lost their adhesive qualities over the years , the older they are the more likely this is so. I will not accept returns of this kind.
I do not accept items back which have been bought by mistake as constant handling and posting eventually decreases the value of the items.
