Rudyard Kipling issued this set of martial poetry several times with additions each time. This is the first collection from 1892 which was published by the popular and inexpensive Methuen Company.Imperialist to the core, Kipling includes in this book such well known poems as 'Tommy', 'Danny Deever', 'Fuzzy-Wuzzy', and 'Mandalay'. When the British Empire was in its heyday, men were men and the natives were restless, this little tome is a window into a vanished world. It contain  204 hand cut pages of poetry  with an engraved vignette to the title page. At the back there are a 16 further pages advertising Messrs. Methuen's other wares.

CONDITION OF THE BOOK.

The heavy brown board covers have faded slightly and the back cover has picked up some water stains.The spine has faded in the sun but the gilt is still bright.Some foxing,mainly at the beginning of the book.The frontispiece has gift inscriptions from 1895 & 1892.The binding is tight if slightly out of square.
