You are bidding on a fabulous pair of B&W Nautilus 801 loudspeakers. As can be seen, they are finished in the very attractive dark rosewood finish and look fantastic. They have a 15 inch bass woofer and the famous Nautilus tweeter.
I am only considering selling these because they are not getting used and cannot fit into my other studio, so it seems a real waste of a pair of speakers of this quality. I have used them as monitors in my studio - they have never been abused in any way and, as they were only in my 2nd studio, had extremely light useage. However, as I have so much equipment in front of them, their capabilities are totally wasted and I am going to downgrade to something a bit cheaper, maybe a pair of ATC SCM50s.
Of course, although they are used in studios such as Abbey Road as monitor speakers, they are also ideally suited to hifi use - indeed they are really hifi speakers. A powerful amp is recommended for best results - my Nakamichi PA7E did a very good job on them, and the Krell FPB600 which I am currently using is superb (it is also for sale - see my other auctions)
They are in excellent condition except that each speaker has a couple of chips and scratches on the outer sides (see photos), otherwise they would be mint condition. Also, they have grilles for the large 15 inch bass woofer, but not for the tweeters (they can be bought from B&W if required, or I can obtain a set for you, but they do not sound good) They should be run with the grilles off.
Please note, these are available for collection only from my house in Arbroath, Scotland (15 miles north of Dundee, 100 miles north of Glasgow) I cannot deliver them anywhere - I can't move them!!! They are a 2 or 3 man lift and you would be strongly advised to bring a van to collect them. Cash on collection or bank transfer into my Halifax bank account only. If you cannot pay one of these ways, please contact me. Cleared funds must be received before they can be picked up.
Buy it now is set at just half the new price, and these speakers are very rarely available. However, sensible offers may be considered, otherwise I will just keep them for now. I may also consider part exchange if anyone has a pair of ATC SCM50 actives. Obviously no overseas bidders and please do not e-mail asking me if I will deliver them - they must be collected as I do not have means of moving them, nor a suitable vehicle to put them in. Happy bidding!
