Ray-Ban sunglasses............The World's Finest Sunglasses In the late 1920's, the U.S. Army Air Corps approached Bausch & Lomb with an urgent request for an optical glass that would help fliers overcome the brutal glare of the sun. Responding to this need, Bausch & Lomb created the first Ray-Ban glass, which not only met, but far exceeded the exacting Air Corps standards. Today, Ray-Ban sunglasses are still manufactured to standards that produce the same level of excellence. Each pair provides full glare protection while preserving peak visual acuity. Ray-Ban sunglasses also provide 100% protection from the harmful effects of UV rays. Their finely ground and polished lenses are free of the waves, blemishes and other defects that can distort vision. The frames too are produced under the same code of quality.

The Clubmaster is to my mind the most stylish vintage Ray-Ban.  In production for over fifty years, it has become a classic.  Worn extensively by American film stars including Jack Nicholson, Harvey Keitel, Denzil Washington, Kevin Costner, Tim Roth (Mr Orange, Reservoir Dogs) and Tom Cruise. This frame is also elegant enough to be worn by females, Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, in the 50's and 60's. Sade employed them to good effect during the 80's, when the clubmaster experienced a resurgence.  Retro style sunglasses are experiencing yet another fashion resurgence; this iconic design transcends fashion.

These W0366 tortoiseshell Clubmasters are in good condition.  The tortoishell acetate frames and 24k gold plated sub-frames are also in excellent condition.  The lenses are fair condition. There are scratches please bear this in mind and bid accordingly.  The frame size is 135mm wide (temple to temple).  The arms are 140 mm long and fitted with quality five barrel hinges.  The lenses measure 49mm wide by 41mm deep.

The right lens bears the Ray.Ban logo in white.  Both lenses are etched BL on the outside edge.  The inside of the left arm carries the inscription Bausch & Lomb Ray-Ban U.S.A.  The lenses are G-15 grey/green, optical quality glass, which afford 100% UV protection.   

The sunglasses come complete with a black vynil slip case.  This is an opportunity to purchase a vintage Bausch and Lomb Rayban Tortoiseshell Clubmaster in good condition.
