Dan mask from Ivory Coast

This is a wooden hand made traditional mask from the Dan tribes in Ivory Coast, West Africa. For the peoples of this forested region masks are powerful charms. This masks are invested with the powerful vitality of the forest, a vitality that fosters well-being and protection against harm.

The mask has been adorned with metal on its front head. It is in very good condition. I bought it in Ivory Coast in 2000. It measures 23cm x 14cm.
