A very beautiful original Art Nouveau vase by renowned French sculptor Francois Moreau (1832-1917). Born in Dijon, he studied under Jouffroy and exhibited at the Paris Salon. At the Exposition Universelle in 1900 he won a bronze medal.
The sculpting of the water nymph and attention to detail, make this a very fine quality example of Moreau's work. From the folds in her fabric to the bird on the back, sipping from the cascading water, it is an exquisitely unique item from the period.
The finish has a superb bronze verdigree patina with colour variations. The vase sits upon a stepped marble base of green veined black marble. A very good size vase of 400mm, it is a very striking example. In museum condition as can be seen from the photographs.
