A heavy Art Nouveau Shelley WHITE HORSE WHISKY match striker / holder dating to between 1910 and 1916 with a full backstamp on the underside (see photo) and registration number "RD 384295". I guess it was probably issued to public houses/inns as a promotional item for White Horse Whisky. The blue top half is glazed and the rest is a rough stoneware to strike your matches. The matches would have sat in the centre well. Around the sides on the stoneware it is also embossed in script "White Horse". In excellent condition for its age with just a touch of discolouration/dirt and a very small nick on the inner rim of the well.
