My
1955 Ariel Colt which have owned since 2001.
In need of refurbishment, I did have it
running when I first got it but it's sat
all these years and I'll never get around
to restoring it, which is what I originally
intended to do. So it's got to go - hopefully
to a good home, will make a nice little
project as it's very complete and has original
valuable number (Valued £800 NET by
regtransfers.co.uk).
The frame and engine are correct for 1955,
the speedo shows 11212 miles and the tax
disc shows it was last used in 1978! There's
good compression and it kicks over OK. The
old V5 shows only 2 former owners.
The tank has a few little dents but the
inside is good, the center stand stops are
bent this is why the stand goes too far
forward. Most of all the consumer parts
will need replacing etc. The rear lamp lens
is wrong as I've mis-layed the correct one
- but I can pass it on when it turns up.
There is a spare gearbox included which
has been dismantled by someone previously
and the picture below only shows the main
parts the nuts/bolts etc are also included
but I haven't checked to see if anything is
missing. Also there are additional spares
which can be seen in the pictures below
including new cables, foot rests, kick starter,
gear change, center stand etc. The last
picture shows a new exhaust and inlet valve.
Also included is a genuine hand book
and parts book (not in pictures). A rare
motorcycle which you don't see around anymore
and would make a nice little local
show/rally machine. Ideal father/son
project? Please ask any questions
you may - I will try to answer but I don't
know too much about the condtion as I never
striped any of it down. Payment required
in full before collection, but I may be
able to organise transport at cost.
