This is a very handsome armchair. It dates to around 1900 - 1910 and is late Victorian / Edwardian. The chair has a walnut frame, standing on good claw and ball front feet, with shaped apron, side rails and swept back feet. The chair has carvings to the two arms and has a large deep seat with seat cushion and back cushion. This is a top quality period chair that is particularly handsome and usable.
The chair is upholstered and the upholstery to the chair is very clean. However, there is a hole in the material of the seat cushion (see photo) so it would be well worth having the seat cushion and the back cushion recovereed in a contrasting material to the rest of the chair. It would not be too expensive to have two covers made for the removable cushions. The upholstery to the rest of the chair is good. The joints are good to both legs and arms. A good furnishing piece for an antique interior.
The chair is 33 inches high to the back and is 33 inches wide from outside each arm and without the cushion, the seat is 27 inches deep.
