A 6 inch, double folding arm vernier Protractor by Troughton & Simms of London , circa 1840. This fine Instrument is in original condition, complete with fitted Mahogany Box. Used by Surveyors and Map Makers of the day, it is capable of highly accurate work. Brass framework with most of the original laquer, Silver Dial and Vernier, central glass with crosshair and fine adjustment . Please study the photos to appreciate condition and I draw your attention to the following. One 'S' hook end is broken, one hinge is corroded and one arm has had a skilled old repair ( picture 8) consisting of a thin plate rivetted to the reverse which is not visible from the front. I am happy to answer any questions. |
