"Early white machine embroidery was of extremely high quality and often mistaken for Ayrshire needlework" Ayrshire and other Whitework - Margaret Swain .. the reason for saying this is because if i didn't know better i would describe this as Ayrshire lace
 
 
For sale today a rare assortment of lace remnants in white machine embroidery, rich in texture with padded raised stitches in perfect geometric rows of shamrocks with eyelets hoop motif, not unlike horseshoes worked in heavy twisted yarn designed to cover the ground quickly.. beautiful deep lace flounce finished with fabulous dropped scallop edge heavily embroidered with raised spot embellishment.
 
The sale includes:
 
2 'Cuffs' 9 & 1/4" deep  emb 5"
1 flounce 24" by 9 & 1/4" emb 5"
1 narrow flounce 24" by 5" emb 1 & 1/2" - slight foxing
 

 
Offered in excellent gently used/unused condition, will need a light launder before use, fine and very good white otherwise perfect, strong and sound original pieces, ready to send off, for arts and crafts, sewing projects reenactments, staging etc
