A superb Silver Hunting Crop dating back to 1904 Possibly Swaine Adeney The famous 'Swaine' button that is on the back of the handle appears to have lost its Swaine stamp, giving the appearance of rust. I can almost be sure this means that the button did exist once and over the years it has gone missing. See picture 2 This crop is in good condition, it has some very minor fraying at the end of the cane. The end of the thong is slightly damaged and there is no lash. It has an Antler horn handle measuring 4.75 inches Leather cased shaft measuring 19 inches (from top of handle) The keeper is in very good condition Kangaroo hide leather plaited thong measuring approx 24 inches The Silver band has the following inscripted on it; T.H.S FROM F.C.L-H HARKAWAY MARCH 1904 Iam lead to believe this is Irish, possibly a hunt meet near Cork. This Whip belonged to a great ancestor. Happy to answer questions |
