Fabulous Antique Print The Blesssed Virgin Mary
"Mary's Offering"
Mounted Onto Old Backing Card
This is a very old engraving style print. I think it's a print, it looks very much like a hand-tinted engraving when you shine it in the light as all the colours shine up differently. I'm not quite sure what it is, it is clearly very old as there is foxing to it and what looks like craquelure all over the picture.
There is a signature to the lower right which reads something like Birch or possibly Rischos or something like that, I can't quite make it out. I can't tell whether this is hand-written or printed. Sorry to be so vague but I genuinely cannot tell whether it is real or not. It could well be.
The engraving/print itself is in very good condition apart from some minor foxing and is titled at the bottom Mary's Offering. The mount has a couple of marks about 2/3 of the way down on either side of the engraving but there is nothing on the actual picture whatsoever. The print measures 15 1/2" by 10 1/2" with the mount, 13 1/4" by 6 1/2" actual picture area.
I have featured the engraving/print in an antique style frame to show how even more stunning this print/engraving looks in a well-chosen frame. The frame is not for sale and not included in the sale. The print/engraving will be flat boarded for the winning bidder to ensure it arrives in great condition.
This superb item that is something of a mystery is being offered at a ridiculously low starting price and no reserve!
