Here's a well-preserved, antique, country spinning wheel up for bids without reserve! We found this one in stored away in the hayloft of an old barn and as the photos show, it's in excellent, original, unrestored condition!. We like to sell our items in "as-found" condition so our customers can share the thrill of getting a real "find"! So this wheel is a bit dusty and hasn't been altered one bit...and doesn't need to be either. It has a very nice, original patina with warm tones and nice wear patterns. It even has a couple improvised modifications that add character to the piece.
This spinning wheel has the year "1926" carved into the frame. It also has beautifully turned spokes, legs, and spindles that give it loads of charm. Even the part that most often gets lost is still there...the distaff, and it has a wonderful, folksy look.
Fully assembled, this flax wheel stands 45 inches high when including the distaff. The wheel itself has a 15 inch diameter. It is solid, tight, and doesn't wobble when turned, making it still functional for spinning again if you so desire. Perfect for the spinning hobbyist or just a charming, old item to decorate your home or business with.
