Antique Oriental Vase/Urn with Lid

This is a lovely antique vase with handles, either Chinese or Japanese, I'm not sure. It depicts an oriental scene, with figures and flowers, and on the lid stands an oriental dog.

I have been told that the vase dates from the 19th Century.

Unfortunately it has some damage in that the dog figure on the lid has lost the end of its tail, and the base has a crack around it where it has broken and been mended.
