Antique Marine Sextant by FD JW C1800-1840

This Georgian Sextant is constructed of solid ebony & brass with the makers name in the bone? plaque written in script F.D J.W , the sextant dates around C1800s, after that period  all brass construction was more favoured. It features seven shades , and a good mirror , the ark reads from 0-135 and the cross sectional scale reads 1-20 , the handle is made from solid mahogany.

It measures 29cm long and 30cm accross the arc , The sextant is being sold for restoration as the back has some splits (2) , the main construction is still solid, also the telescope has no objective and will probably have to be replaced , the arc objective is also missing,

This early  marine sextant should appeal to anyone wishing to take on a small project of restoration or collectors of Georgian marine instruments.

The plaque with the makers name FD JW also has the words "LONDON" , faint but still legible.
