This is a Surveyor's "Y" Level -- Serial # 2674, which would date it to about 1910. It was made by Eugene Dietzgen of Chicago, Illinois. It is made of brass and has good patina. The telescope measures 20-1/2" when extended and has a side-mounted external object focus and a screw eyepiece focus ( in working condition). The spirit level, with graduations on the glass, is attached beneath the telescope and measures 8" long. The bar is engraved "Eugene Dietzgen Co./2674/Chicago & New York" and supports wyes with ring pin fasteners. The original box is made of pine and is in very good condition, but may have been varnished at some point. It also has an original canvas carrying bag (in fair condition). The brass telescope cap is included, but no sun shade present. See my other auctions for the original level rod from this set. Flat rate UPS shipping is for the continental USA only.
