Here is a beautiful Antique 19th c. fine woven wool shawl with sumptuous silk hand embroidery.The main ground is a gorgeous scarlet red with multi coloured embroidered borders and deep panels at both fringed ends. It is very long and is in very good condition apart from several small holes peppered along the edge of the red ground in the middle section and a fifty pence size bite out of the bottom end of the fringing on the end, there is also some tiny black spots confined to the red ground area as well I have photographed these flaws as best I could although they do not dominate the piece and the rest of the shawl is intact and very clean and strong. I would say overall condition is very good it retains its original beauty and is a very fine piece indeed. I guess that it is from India probably Kashmir
