Antique 1880s Small Drum Shape Brass Microscope

Description

  For Auction:

A fine - Victorian era - drum shaped students microscope that comes in its original mahogany case.

The microscope still retains its gilding to the brass. Object and viewing lenses are both fine - as is the small swing mirror. It is obvious that this small microscope has not been used on a regular basis - it is extremely clean and well cared for.

There are no faults with this antique microscope - it has hardly been used over the years. There are no glass slides - but there is an original brass set of tweezers to place the specimens.

The microscope resides in its original mahogany case - with two brass swing clips to secure the lid - one of the small brass swing clips has lost its tip - but still closes the lid securely. The hinges to the mahogany box have been replaced at one stage - and a good job has been made.

This is a good little - very clean - antique microscope to add to any collection. The case measures 6.75" in length - by 2.75" in width and has a height of 2.5" - it weighs approx 350grams.
