Condition: Uncased, unbacked ambrotype, overall in good condition with
typical edge anomalies as per the colloidal process, some scratches. At each edge are two old remnants of clear tape that must have been used to hold it into a case at one time.
Other: Excellent period portrait of a husband and wife who must have
been instructed to position their hands in this unnatural way giving us an earlier version of an American Gothic pose. I have photographed this in front of a piece of black paper to show the image. the second image is of the actual ambrotype without any backing.
