Fantastic kit of the British Tempest V which is very well moulded and fits together without any troubles.

The Tempest was a WWII British fighter bomber dervied from the earlier Hawker Typhoon. The Tempest was based on the Typhoon with a thinner wing to improve airflow and improve performance at higher altitudes. This lead to a slightly larger wingspan thena the Typhoon although later variants had the wings clipped. Other improvements in wing design allowed the Tempest to accomodate four Hispano 20mm cannon with 800 rounds as well although this meant the relocation of fuel tanks that had previously been built into the Typhoon's wings.

The Tempest V was with squadrons in April 1944 where they specialised in long range sorties into enemy territory in a ground attack role. By June 1944 with the first V-1 bombs slying over London and the South East, Tempests were ideally suited, with their excellent low altitude performance, to dealing with this threat. Indeed, Tempests were credited with 638 of the 1,846 V-1s destoyed by aircraft.

This low level performance also made the Tempest a very real threat for the German Me-262 jets where they were vulnerable on approach to their airfields. 

Ideal for the wargamer as well as the novice or the experienced modeller.
