From Uganda comes this beautifully understated fruit bowl in lovely earthtones. It would traditionally be used to gather, carry, and serve grain, beans, fruit, and nuts. Baskets are also used as gifts and for ceremonial purposes. The weaving fibers are mostly raffia, with occasionally palm leaves. The colors come from various indigenous roots, leaves, berries, and other materials, usually soaked and boiled for many days. It is designed to be decorative on a table or shelf, or used for an eyecatching display of fruits, vegetables, gourds, leaves, and other natural wonders.
