New Handmade Fair Trade African Zulu Mbenge Isiquabetho Basket

approximately 42 inches circumference x 7.5 inches height

In the ancient tradition of African weaving, come new, yet old, works of art and utility. This beautiful piece is meant to carry and hold grains, fruits, vegetables, and prepared foods. Baskets are also used as gifts, decorative items, and for ceremonial purposes.

This delight comes with an information card with the name of the artist, Nomusa Hadebe, thus giving a very personal, warm feel. The weaving fibers are from the Ilala palm, Raffia, and Ncebe wild banana. The colors are natural, being either the native shade of the plant, or from various indigenous roots, leaves, berries, and other materials, usually soaked and boiled for many days.

It can be hung, propped up for admiration, or used for display and to hold items. It is a true collector's piece, beautiful decor, educationally rich, and the perfect present!

There are over a hundred amazing African hand woven baskets in a vast array of styles, sizes, colors, and designs created just for you; please visit, browse, and fall in love! And don't forget to see the wonderful telephone wire creations, too!

Please note that this piece is handmade of organic materials. It will show the natural flaws and personal qualities of its origin. We feel this adds immensely to its individual value! Measurements are approximate.

Materials: Ilala palm; Ncebe banana fibers; Raffia; natural dyes
