This is a genuine small piece of Kuba Cloth from the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is special cloth handwoven by women from Raffia Palm leaves and grasses, naturally dyed, sewn on in a pattern. Difficult to know exactly how old it is but probably at least 30 years.
This cloth is very special to the Tribal people who wear it as skirts and shoulder throws on unique occasions. It is said that the style of this piece was used by Kings as the cut grass feels like velvet.
It is in very good condition with just a few frays.
It has been thoroughly sprayed for insects.
Dimensions : 73cm x 53cm. Weight : 310gm.
