Sultan of Zanzibar’s Medal 1896, Silver, unnamed as issued, with original swivel suspension, and very rare.
Awarded by the Sultan for services in East Africa in conjunction with the East and West Africa Medal 1887-1900 for Witu 1890, Witu 1893 & Mwele 1895-96 to non-naval personnel. A number of Zanzibaris and Indians, also African’s with the East African Rifles, were recipients of this medal. Some senior British Officer’s were also awarded this medal.
