About the Artist:

Allan is a professional artist, living in Newcastle. Allan graduated from Sunderland University with a BA honours in Fine Art and has won many awards, including the prestigious Northern Print Award.

He loves to paint from his studio overlooking the sea, and travel to Ireland, where he finds he gets the inspiration to capture some beautiful scenes. He is talented in creating many outstanding paintings, which include acrylics, watercolours, woodcuts and Japanese style works.

He prefers to work in several mediums; His inspiration comes from a variety of factors usually a ‘strong image, light traversing a landscape or architecture. Starting with sketches and photos, then disregarding elements, he engages in a process of sifting and translating images - resulting in a painting that is fresh and spontaneous.

Through his paintings the viewer is invited into a surreal environment of colour, light and shade coaxing them into an immersive engagement with the subject resulting in a series of infinite spaces that shift between the abstract and the figurative.

Many of his paintings are now in private collections and galleries all over the world, and are fast becoming collectable.
