NEWTON’S QUALITY ‘SMALLS’
From January 2008, Newton Art & Antiques will be concentrating on sourcing and
selling intriguing, small, easily mailable antique and vintage objects of a
generally non-fragile nature. To qualify for inclusion in my stock, an item
should fulfil at least three of the following criteria; it should be old, rare,
beautiful, well made or interesting.
In order to ensure a rapid turn-around and customer
satisfaction, items will be listed for three days only and will be posted as
soon as possible after Paypal payment has been received. Money back if not
entirely satisfied.
To speed matters up, I’m not messing around with
artificially low starting prices but will begin with an amount for which I’m
willing to part with an item. As I am dealing only in items which appeal to my
personal taste, I am perfectly happy for them to remain in my possession should
they fail to sell. There are no Reserve prices.
I hope that my comments on style, possible date and
condition can be taken with confidence; I have a Fine Arts degree from the University of Cambridge and have been collecting and dealing in
antiques and curios for forty years. My Feedback file of happy customers should
also give you confidence in my judgement and efficiency!
Unless stated otherwise below, all items - including
books - can be taken to be in what would be generally regarded as good
condition. Where the size of an item is fairly self-evident it has been
omitted. As I say, if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, I will
be happy to refund your money and postal charges.
Please note that I can only
accept payment via Paypal.
FURTHER COMMENTS ABOUT THIS ITEM: 6.5cms high. In excellent, unscratched condition. N.B. photo doesn't fully convey appeal; colour richer and deeper in reality and detail sharper. Features delightful playing Japanese children on lid and lounging, tea-drinking adult figures around sides. About 1875-80. Possibly European, in imitation of Japanese work, although the figures are very convincingly Japanese and the item could have been made in Japan to cater for European taste. It has a European shape. Very charming. Packs a big interior-designery punch.
