Adjustable camshaft sprocket for Lada Niva and classic VAZ engines. New part, the fine setting by few degrees can improve either the torque or power output of the engine. Or you can use it to set the exact dead point for both crankshaft and camshaft. Will not fit the latest multipoint engines (from ca. year 2000), where that odd single row chain is used.

The adjustable camshaft gear wheel allows the fine adjustment of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft. For example with a milled cylinder head or engine block the distance between crankshaft and cam shaft is reduced. Thus the dead center signs do not match, because chain length remains the same.

The original setup with parallel running top dead center (TDC) points (a basis for every further adjustment) can be achived only with such a chain wheel. The pictured chainwheel fits to all classical VAZ engines since 1970, and to Lada Niva from 1976 to approx. 2000. This means, to be used only on carburetor engines and central injection without hydraulic tappets, where double chain and this type of large gear wheels are used. Not good for single-row chain, starting from 2001.

The use of such a gear wheel needs already certain insight into engine tuning. In simple words, in relation to original zero point early OR late running camshaft (gas change) causes a better loading by full throttle in higher OR lower speed ranges. Thus depending upon choice the engine is optimalized to the maximum power or highest torque. There are no appoximate values for how many degrees you need to change, each engine is different.

Verstellbares Nockenwellenzahnrad für Lada Niva und weitere Lada Fahrzeuge.
Das ist hier ein neues Nockenwellenzahnrad für die feine Einstellung der Nockenwelle im Verhältnis zur Kurbelwelle. Zum Beispiel bei niedriger gefrästem Zylinderkopf od. Motorblock wird der Abstand zwischen Kurbelwelle und Nockenwelle verringert. Somit stimmen die Totpunkte nicht überein, weil ja die Kette gleich bleibt. Die originale Aufstellung mit gleichlaufenden Zeichen (Ausgangspunk für jede weitere Adjustierung) geht nur mit so einem Kettenrad.

Abgebildetes Zahlrad passt an alle klassische VAZ motoren seit 1970, und an Lada Niva von 1976 bis ca. 2000. Also nur an Vergasermotoren und Zentralinjektion ohne Hydrostössel zu verwenden, wo Doppelkette und dieser Typ von grosser Zahnrad eingebaut wurde. D.h. nicht für einreihige Kette, wie ab 2001 verbaut.

Die Verwendung eines solchen Zahnrades erwünscht schon einen gewissen Einsicht in Sachen Tuning. Mit ganz einfachen Worten, gegenüber Nullpunkt ein Vor- oder Nachverlegung der Gaswechsel bewirkt eine bessere Aufladung bei Vollgas in höheren oder niedrigeren Drehzahlbereichen.

Also je nach Wahl wird der Motor an die maximale Leistung oder höchstes Drehmoment optimalisiert. Es gibt keine Richtwerte, jeder Motor ist anders, und das kann mit so einem Zahnrad ausgenutzt werden.
