Brand new, sealed and unbuilt.

Fantastic kit of the American P-38J Lightning which is very well moulded and fits together without any troubles.

The P-38 was a distinctive US Fighter with a twin boom tail. The P-38 was used in a variety of roles including dive bombing, level bombing, ground strafing and reconnaissance and was the only American fighter produced for the full duration of WWII from Pearl Harbour to VJ Day. Used mostly in the Pacific theatre this model kit depicts a European 'J' model which served in North West Europe after D-Day.

The P-38J was produced in August 1943 and 2,970 rolled off the factory floor. The J model had the turbocharger intercooler moved from the wings where it had proven vulnerable to the engine area  between the oil coolers forming a distinctive 'chin'. This also allowed more fuel to be carried in the outer wing where the intercooler tunnels had previously been located.

 

As always, Academy are generous with the detail and the kit includes:

  • Fully engraved panel lines and rivet detail
  • Highly detailed cockpit interior and bomb bay
  • Various weapons included
