Abell A-80 VHF
146-174 MHz Compact Handheld FM Transceiver
This is an ultra-robust and compact synthesized professional portable 4.5W VHF transceiver. Using the A-80 is second nature thanks to the tough and textured buttons, chunky rotary channel, volume knobs and status LED. In addition, two programmable buttons can be set to give immediate access to the various features, making communication even simpler. With 15 communication and 1 scanning channel, you can use the A-80 to liaise with the whole team or change channel to discuss a more complicated issue one-to-one. Each channel can be assigned a CTCSS (50 groups) or DCS (104 groups) tone key to eliminate unwanted signals. This helps to minimize interference from other users, which means that audio will not be heard if your radio receives a signal with the incorrect tone key.
The A-80 has a high/low power setting that allows users to extend battery life from a single charge. This can be done by switching to low power when the user is in close proximity to other users, as the range is reduced and less power is required.
The A-80 has been produced with Automatic Filter Control (AFC) technology and very effective Squelch Tail Elimination (STE). AFC provides strong anti-interference protection and STE sends a brief subaudible tone prior to the end of transmission, this enables the audio circuit to turn off before the modulated signal ends.
Designed to meet tough MIL-STD 810 C/D/E specifications, this portable radio is extremely reliable - making it perfect for security, service industries and a wide range of commercial applications with simple yet demanding operational requirements. It even provides all the convenience of hands-free operation when used with the optional headset and microphone.

Rock-Solid Design. The A-80 is your guarantee of absolute performance in demanding situations as it fully complies with MIL-STD 810 C/D/E standards for resistance to shock, vibration, humidity, dust, and light rain. The aluminium die-cast chassis, sealed case design, and gold-plated SMA antenna connector can withstand rough handling to enable these exceptionally rugged radios to provide years of reliable service.
Time-Out Timer. The purpose of the Time-out Timer is to prevent and single person from using a channel for an extended period of time (the longest time is 10 minutes). If you continuously transmit for the preset limited period of time, the transceiver will stop transmitting and a tone will sound. To stop the tone, release the PTT switch. You can press the PTT switch again to resume transmitting.
Monitor. When no signals are present, the squelch on the transceiver automatically mutes the speaker so you will not hear background noise. To manually deactivate the squelch, press and hold the Monitor key. This is useful when you want to adjust the volume level, or when you need to hear a week signal.
Adjustable Squelch Level. The adjustable squelch level setting enables clear audio quality that is ideal for single site operations from hospitality and security to the rugged industrial environments of construction and mining.
Channel Scanning. Rotate channel selector to S, the transceiver scanning channel 1 - 15 (Any channel could be set to forbid scanning). The transceiver checks each channel to find if signal appears in state of scanning and scanning will stop on the channel on which there is signal existing and speak. Any programmed channel can be set to priority channel. This feature enables you to carry on scanning, searching or monitoring another channel while the radio checks the memory channel timer for activity.
Busy Channel Lockout. This function prevents you from interfering with other stations that may be using the channel that you select. Pressing the PTT switch while the selected channel is in use causes your transceiver to generate and error beep; your transceiver does not transmit.
Emergency Alarm. While emergency or accident occurs with a simple press of a button a defined emergency procedure is active. This sounds an emergency alarm to let other people know.
Status Announcer. Voice indicated radio self-check routine, channel number and transmitting power make the radio user friendly even in low-light conditions. Different languages and voice tones are available.
Battery Save. The Battery Save function decrease the amount of power used when a signal is not being received and no operations are being performed (no keys are being pressed, and no switches are being turned). While the channel is not busy and no operation is performed for 10 seconds, Battery Save function turns ON. When a signal is received or an operation is performed, Battery Save function turns OFF.
Low Battery Warning. Low Battery Warning alerts you when the battery needs to be recharged. While transmitting, if the battery power goes below a pre-determined value, the LED will blink red. When a tone sounds, the transceiver stops transmitting. Replace or recharge the battery pack.
PC Programmable. Frequencies, CTCSS and DQT tones, channel spacing (12.5 or 25 kHz), time-out timer, scanning function, busy channel lockout, output power, alarm, monitoring and other various functions can be set by programming software. |
