This is a concise dictionary of words used in A-level economics, where the the brevity comes not from the explanation of each entry but through the care with which each word has been chosen for inclusion. Terminology no longer relevant to the current A-level specification has been excluded.
In the dictionary each definition includes a maximum of four components and a minimum of one. Each entry begins with a single sentence definition that can be learnt for the examination. This is likely to be followed by a fuller explanation of the word. Where relevant there is an example which is factual or theoretical and may illustrated by a table or diagram. Lastly, there may be an examiner's tip where a word is commonly misunderstood, confused with another word, often used in error or commonly found in conjunction with other words in the dictionary. There may also be a reference to a word's contextual relevance or its relative importance as, even in an essential word dictionary, some entries are more important than others. Throughout the dictionary there are italicised cross references to other words that you may need to refer to in order to fully understand an entry.
If you are completing the full A-level, it is essential that you recognise and understand all the terms in this dictionary. Many of the words are relevant to AS, while some are specific to the modules in A2. To help you identify these, a list of the most important terms for each module of the AS and A-level specification of all the main examining boards is included at the end of the book.

If you have already received an invoice and you are bidding on or are interested in bidding on other items, please DO NOT PAY, until ALL the auctions have ended. Once they have done so, please contact us, so we can send you an amended invoice.
