Presented for auction is this Superb Vintage Art Deco Solid Silver Matchbook Holder Vesta Case, hallmarked for Birmingham 1932.
This superb vintage solid silver match book holder/vesta case is rectangular in shape with an engine turned pattern both front and back and is finished to the front with an Art Deco shaped cartouche to the top left corner with the initals FWY bright cut engraved . The hinged lid works perfectly and springs open to reveal a gold gilt interior. It is fully hallmarked to the inside with the makers mark D.Bros, the Birmingham assay office Anchor, the Lion Passant denoting solid sterling silver and the date letter H for 1932, please see all the additional photos below.
Measuring 2 3/8" long by 1 3/4" wide approx. it is in excellent condition no dents, dings, splits or repairs and its weight in silver is 37grams by my postal scales.
