THIS FANTASTIC LITTLE EMBROIDERY DONE TO A PROFESSIONAL STANDARD WAS INTENDED IT SEEMS TO BE THE MAKING OF A CLUTCH BAG/PURSE OR BOOK COVER (HOWEVER, THE SPINE SEEMS A LITTLE NARROW FOR SUCH A PURPOSE). IT COULD SIMPLY HAVE BEEN KEPT UNDER GLASS AS A BEDSIDE OR TRAY CLOTH. THE WORKMANSHIP IS EXQUISITE! SEWN IN COFFEE, CREAM & PEACH SILKS WITH GOLD THREAD IT WOULD MAKE A LOVELY PURSE STILL! MEASURING approx 30 x 20 cm = 12ins x 9 ins. I'M CRAZY TO PART WITH IT BUT I HAVE ENJOYED LOOKING AT IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS. SEWN ONTO COTTON AS SHOWN THE COTTON LOOKS WORN BUT THIS STURDY LITTLE PIECE WILL LAST ANOTHER HUNDRED YEARS YET. CIRCA 1920. GENUINE ANTIQUE. NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE...
