This is a beautiful and elegant Art Deco sugar shaker. It was made by Henry Holland and Son, Silversmiths. The hallmark on the screwtop lid is HH&SN, then the letter q, a lion passant and an uncrowned lion head. This hallmark confirms the piece as a sterling silver top, made in London in 1931. Sugar shakers were sometimes called muffineers and were used not only for sugar, but also sugar and cinnamon, for sprinkling onto bread or muffins. This shaker is in excellent condition, there are no cracks or chips in the glass. There are a few small marks on the base, consistant with its use. The cut of the glass is very fine, each edge is straight and each side is very smooth, a lovely piece to hold. It measures 6" high in total; the silver top is 2" of the height. It is 1.75" at its narrowest width and 2.25" at the base and weighs 8.7 oz (247g). Payment in GBP only please, within 3 days of the sale ending. If payment is not by Paypal, this item will be posted or may be collected on receipt of cleared funds.
