Apple II ROLAND MPU 401
MIDI Processor / Synchronizer

Apple (and other) computers connect to this, as well as your MIDI devices,
and tape, if tape sync is desired.  It is much more than a MIDI interface.
It's actually an external microprocessor, speeding processing as it doesn't
tax the computer's microprocessor.

It also interfaces between DIN sync devices and tape.
