ANTIQUE VICTORIAN OAK STATIONERY CABINET/c1890
At first glance this is just a simple rectangular oak box, but open it up and is something else entirely. The interior opens to reveal that it is in fact a lovely old Victorian writing box, the front panel falling to reveal a fitted interior which has a long drawer along the bottom, 2 smaller squared drawers at the side and 4 open sections at the sides for your paper and envelopes. Also, it has a strip attached to the lid, at the top, with stitched tubular sections for pens and pencils, and a blotter in the drop down lid at the front. It is in very good condition, the interior being made of wood covered with pigskin on the drawers and pen holder and with thick paper elsewhere, although it is a little grubby in places and has a few nicks and scratches here and there. It also has an engraved shield on top with the letters E.P.C in scrolling italic and it has the original old keyhole with brass escutcheon, although we don't have the key. If you needed to lock it up, you could always take it with you to the locksmith and see if he has a key that fits. This is a really lovely writing compendium, or stationery cabinet.
Measures 13in x 6.25in (33cm x 16cm) and 9.75in (25cm) high.

At Frockabilia / EurobiliaUK.Antiques we have one simple aim; to sell good quality antique pieces at competitive prices. .
We are located near Hampstead Heath in Central London; we sell small to medium sized pieces of period furniture and collectables, mostly items that we consider to be useful in the home as well as decorative. We hope that if we love them, then so will you. They range from the Georgian, Regency, Victorian, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Edwardian and Art Deco periods. .
Most of our items are Antiques and minor blemishes are normal due to age (Some items are over 100 years old, so perfection is impossible). All auction descriptions are honest, accurate, detailed and have many pictures, if the item has a flaw we try to show a picture so you will know exactly what you are bidding on. But please remember that there is normal wear and tear, and it is not always possible to show that. We take a great deal of trouble over transporting our items, whether they are large or small. The large pieces of furniture, which go by road, are carefully handled by expert delivery drivers and the smaller pieces are packed very carefully, with lots of packing materials - the more fragile they are, the more packing and care they receive.
