This art, that comes complete in it's original gold frame is believed to come from England, brought to Conklin, New York by Polly Mellor when she immigrated to the US with her father, Doctor/Dentist George Mellor in the early 1900's. In 1930 Polly and Aurthur Scott were married and bought the home and property on Conklin Ave., where this art remained until now, in Conklin New York, for $5,000 at an auction after the death of the previous owner. Aurthur set up a small engine repair shop in the garage out back the house called "Scotty's Lawnmower Repair". It is believed that Polly was a toolmaker at IBM for 40 years. Polly's Father, Doctor/Dentist Gregory Mellor was a prominent Doctor/Dentist in England as well as the USA. Also listed with this series of special family heirlooms is a B & W portrait of Dr. Gregory Mellor in it's original frame as well. I believe that the Mellor's had 2 sons, George and Art, and grand kids Mitch and Jeffery. These pieces from this family were left in the house when it was sold, and is how I acquired them. I hope that they end up falling into the hands of a family member who will love, cherish and appreciate them.
Once again, the above is from the first listing in this collection. I just want you to have the info about each piece as I know it to be. In the auction you are now viewing I am offering you a a 2 piece set of prints from the same family, same home, same era. I do not believe these to be from England because of the sticker that is on the paper backing as you can see in photo. They each have beautiful golden frames, one with more repairable damage than the other, and they both measure about 33" tall and about 15-1/2 " wide. The prints inside the frames are flawless as far as I can tell. They seem to be done in pencil or charcoal to me, but once again I am not an expert on this issue so my guess could be wrong. One print is called "Rising Moon" and the other "Deepening Shadows" and those names are handwritten in pencil on the backside of each. This wonderful set is being sold as is. Happy bidding~~~ :)
