The central image of this Old Russian Orthodox Icon depicts The Resurrection of the Lord in the upper part and His Descent into Hell at the bottom. Twelve medallions surrounding it are devoted to the twelve main feasts of the year. They are (clockwise beginning at the upper left):

 

1. Nativity of the Virgin;

2. Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple;

3. Annunciation;

4. Christmas;

5. Epiphany;

6. Transfiguration of the Lord;

7. Assumption of the Virgin;

8. Exaltation of the Cross;

9. Holy Trinity;

10. Descending of the Holy Spirit;

11. Entrance of the Lord to Jerusalem;

12. Meeting of the Lord.

 

This old icon was produced at the end of the 19 or the first years of the 20 century. It is a multicolour chromolithography on a chased metal (brass or tin or soft iron) board attached to the original wooden panel. Back is covered with original cloth.

 

The icon wasn’t restored. Condition is VERY GOOD for this type of icon (chromolithography on a chased metal).

 

Large Size = 12.4x10.4x1 (31x26.5x2.5 cm). Weight = 1015 gr.

 

Certificate of the Ministry of Culture will be included into the shipping.
