A ANTIQUE MINIATURE PORTRAIT PLAQUE OF 19TH CENTURY GERMAN BEAUTY HELENE SEDLMAYR. THIS PORTRAIT PLAQUE IS HAND PAINTED BY THE ARTIST. Helene Kreszenz Sedlmayr (12 February 1813, Trostberg - 1898, Munich) was a German beauty of the 19th century, considered the epitome of Munich's beauties. A shoemaker's daughter, she became known to Ludwig I of Bavaria when (aged 15) she supplied toys to his children and he commissioned a portrait of her from Stieler for his Gallery of Beauties. In 1831 she married the king's valet Miller, with whom she had 10 children. THERE IS A LABEL ON THE BACK OF THE PLAQUE 'STIELER HELENE SEDLMAYR', AND THERE IS A GLASS COVER TO PROTECT THE PORTRAIT. THIS PLAQUE POSSIBLE BEEN RE FARMED IN THIS FRAME AT LATER DAYS, AS IT OFTEN HAS A IVORY FRAME WHEN THEY FIRST MADE. IT IS A VERY DETAILED OLD PLAQUE AND IT APPEAR GENUINE TO ME AND COULD BE PAINTED BY STIELER THE 19THC ARTIST, BUT I CAN NOT SURE, SO ANY HELP AND ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THE ITEM IS APPROX 12'' (33CM) LONG, 5 1/2'' (14CM) WIDE, THE PORTRAIT PLAQUE IS 2 1/2'' X 2'' (5CM X 6.4CM). THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE PLAQUE OR THE FRAME. ANY QUESTION PLEASE ASK, THANK YOU. POSTAGE AND PACKING FOR THIS ITEM IS £3 WITHIN UK VIA 1ST CLASS DELIVERY, £10 WITHIN EUROPE AND £12 TO REST OF THE WORLD BY AIR MAIL SIGN FOR. PAYMENT WITHIN 3 DAYS AFTER AUCTION AND PAYPAL ONLY FOR ITNERNATIONAL BUYER PLEASE, THANK YOU.
