VICTORIAN MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS

Dark honey coloured antique mahogany chest of five graduated drawers, two over three.  Well constructed with dovetail joints, cabinet maker's scribe marks are clearly visible.  All drawers have wooden handles and  slide fully in and out. Bottom drawer extends into false base giving more storage room, see pictures with the drawers open.

Rounded corners, wooden bun handles, brass escutcheons, shallow bun feet.

Mahogany has beautiful rich honey colour with plenty of signs of  use, scuffs lifted chips of veneer and a  gouge and split down the Left hand side, please see close up photos - these are mentioned for accuracy and a re perfectly normal signs of use which enhance the anti character of the piece.  

This unique piece would look lovely in a traditional period home or as a feature piece in a contemporary modern home - attractive and functional!

CONDITION
I sell antique and vintage furniture which has been loved and used, sometimes for more than 200 years.  These antique pieces have a record of their long life marked out on them in the form of marks, wear and tear, historic restoration, lifting and loss to veneer, shrinkage splits, and flexibility to joints, old worm holes, scuffs, scratches and tarnish.

This wear and tear is what gives each piece its unique appearance, its character, its patina – its individual beauty – and is what makes each piece special.

I take great care to describe and photograph as accurately and fully as possible with many large clear photos of each piece from all angles.  I bring to your attention any  flaws and anything beyond normal signs of age.  Through eBay I’ve discovered that people's taste and opinion on what constitutes highly desirable character and what constitutes damage is wildly varied and overlaps so please pay close attentions to the photos.

If you happen to prefer antiques that have no signs of age - been in dry, dark, hermetically sealed storage for several generations and never been touched or used,  but you are, by some chance, interested in some of my furniture, it will almost definitely need to be professionally, comprehensively and expensively restored by a specialist antique furniture restorer.
