"ANTIQUE HAND CARVED CAMEO SCENE HELMET SHELL"

A highly Collectable Antique Hand Carved Cameo shell originating from the early 19th Century carved in the emperor helmet (sardonyx shell), Cassis madagascariensis, one of the most popular shells choosen for carving cameos.

The carving in relief depicts a Mythological scene of a Greek warrior driving his chariot and horses in pursuit of a maiden in a landscape setting. The shell is in very good condition the carving crisp with light wear only.
Dimensions: The shell is 5 1/2 inches long.

Cameo is 5 inches x 3 inches.

Condition: All original and very good. Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age and use. No Damage.

Weight: 360 grams.
