This is an antique French wirework egg basket or saladier dating from the late 1800's.






Measuring approx 14" tall to the top of the handle x 10" in diameter it is in well used condition with bags of character!

These are still used today for their original purpose of collecting eggs from the coop or salad vegetables from the jardin paysage.

The wonderfully clever construction means that you can wash your produce while still in the basket and five it a good shake to get all the creepy crawlies out!

They also make lovely country cottage kitchen storage for fruit, eggs, veg or pot pourri.
