As you will see from my  other auctions I am working my way through a huge trunk of 19th century clothing that has come from an old house in Paris. It has not been touched for well over 100 years and the more pieces I pull out of the trunk the more I realise that this mademoiselle was the most elegant dresser!

This is a charming ostrich feather collar with long black silk ribbon ties.

The feathers are frothy and gorgeous and attached to a ribbon inner making them pliable and soft to tie around the neck.

The ostrich plumes are in wonderful condition and there bis no deterioration to the silk fibre of the ties.

The tie ribbon edges have become slightly browned with age but it does not detract and adds to the period authenticity.

The feather section is 17" (43cms ) long and the overall length with the ties is 53" (135cms).

A delicious old Paris "frou frou" confection for any collector or costume display. THIS IS ALSO A VERY WEARABLE PIECE!
