| ANTIQUE English Sterling Silver thimble made by, JAMES FENTON, Great Hampton Street, Birmingham. This thimble is 114 years old and in superb condition. There are no needle holes, dents or distortions. The bottom rim is still in the round. It is Hallmarked as follows:- Size 10. J.F. LION PASSANT, indicating English Sterling Silver. Lower register v., the date letter for 1895. Horizontal ANCHOR, the Assay Office stamp for Birmingham. This is followed by Rd. 1032--. The maker's registration number for the design, unfortunately incomplete due to rubbing. The thimble has a rolled faceted base rim. This is followed by a band of the dog toothed design, which includes the Hallmarking. The remainder of the thimble is covered in, what I can only describe as sloping thorned Rose stems. It is most unusual, and one that I have only seen once before. Very original and attractive. It measures 22. mm. tall, with a base diameter of 16. mm. It weighs 2.8. grams. In addition to settlement by Paypal, I also accept all other forms of standard paymant. Please confirm by Email. Shipping costs reduced for orders of two items or more. |
