ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS BRASS STANDING LAMP/c1890
This is another very unusual item that we discovered recently. It was originally an old oil lamp, and still has all the old fitments but has been, at some time, converted into an electric lamp, without spoiling it in any way, because the fittings used are also made of brass, just like the rest of the light. The top is of lantern form, made of sections of thick glass in a framework of riveted brass sections, with a gallery around the top and a helmet chimney stop on top of that. The glass is not plain, it has a bumpy, undulating but uniform finish, and there is a section which opens like a door so that you can get inside to change the bulb. This sits on a long upright, narrow at the top and becoming much wider towards the bottom, and it has, finally, a disc shaped domed base with 3 small feet. This is a really fantastic and unusual Arts and Crafts lamp which could be placed just about anywhere. Most of it is in very good condition, nothing broken or missing, but the base does have quite a few bumps although I think it really adds to its charm.
Measures 69ins (175cms) high and diameter of the base is 16ins (40cms). The lamp is wired up for use, but would need extending at the base as someone has cut off some of the wire and the plug.

At Frockabilia / EurobiliaUK.Antiques we have one simple aim; to sell good quality antique pieces at competitive prices. .
We are located near Hampstead Heath in Central London; we sell small to medium sized pieces of period furniture and collectables, mostly items that we consider to be useful in the home as well as decorative. We hope that if we love them, then so will you. They range from the Georgian, Regency, Victorian, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Edwardian and Art Deco periods. .
Most of our items are Antiques and minor blemishes are normal due to age (Some items are over 100 years old, so perfection is impossible). All auction descriptions are honest, accurate, detailed and have many pictures, if the item has a flaw we try to show a picture so you will know exactly what you are bidding on. But please remember that there is normal wear and tear, and it is not always possible to show that. We take a great deal of trouble over transporting our items, whether they are large or small. The large pieces of furniture, which go by road, are carefully handled by expert delivery drivers and the smaller pieces are packed very carefully, with lots of packing materials - the more fragile they are, the more packing and care they receive.
