ANTIQUE ANGLO INDIAN VIZAGAPATAM BOX c1860

This Anglo Indian dome top box originates from Vizgapatam and dates to around 1860. The box is made from sweet smelling sandalwood overlaid with shell and on top of the shell, fretted panels of floral detail incised with black and red lac. The corner straps and panels are secured with silver headed pins. The box stands on four carved lion's paw feet, all original. The interior of the box is plain sandalwood with serpentined edge in good clean condition. The inside of the lid displays the original mirror edged with original red, white and blue braid all in good condition. Some minor foxing on the mirror. The original hinges are made from brass. Overall condition is very good but the front catch has been removed.

The box measures 3 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches.

Payment is required within 7 days of the auction end otherwise items will be offered to the next highest bidder or relisted.

Sorry but I DO NOT ACCEPT money orders, money transfers or foreign cheques due to clearance time & high bank charges in the UK.

If paying via Paypal, please note that in accordance with Paypal policy I can only post to the address registered with paypal so please do not request otherwise.

REFUND POLICY

If you are not happy with your purchase, I will refund the cost (less postage) providing the item is returned in the same condition as sold. I always leave positive feedback for my customers once I have confirmation of safe arrival by receiving customer feedback.

It is my aim that all customers are satisfied with their purchase so if you are unhappy about anything please email me and I will do my absolute best to find a solution.

POST & DELIVERY

All postage options quoted cover postage & packing and are non-negotiable.

Within the UK I use Royal Mail recorded delivery, special delivery or standard parcels for large and heavy items. For items over £30 in value I would advise insurance, please request before paying.

For overseas delivery customers have a choice of Airmail or International Signed For insured service at an extra charge. These services have a weight limit of 2 kilos. Please note that standard airmail is not trackable. Where overseas items exceed 2kg in weight I use Parcel Force International standard insured service.

Customers are responsible for all import and local taxes and all parcels will be labeled accordingly with a description of contents.

I pack all items with extreme care to ensure that you receive them in the best condition however I cannot be held responsible for breakages or loss caused by the postal system. Loss and breakages are rare but do happen so insurance is recommended for delicate or valuable items. I will always provide proof of posting and tracking references where applicable should a parcel go astray.
