AFRICAN AMERICAN quilts are so often FABULOUS ABSTRACT pieces, created to be functional, but in the creating they turned into a WORK OF ART! Using scraps from feedsacks, old clothes, whatever she had on hand, the maker started with no plan, but using her God-given artistic talent and a sense of the beautiful in her soul, she gradually added pieces until they formed what we now call a masterpiece.

FEATURES: Awesome folk art Log Cabin quilt! Fabulous piece of African American history! All cotton, thin and lightweight, hand pieced, primitively hand quilted, hand stitched binding. White cotton backing. Great colors and design!

AGE: circa early 1900s

FABRICS: cotton

STITCHING: entirely hand stitched

 BATTING: thin layer of cotton

SIZE: 66" x 90"(+/-)

CONDITION: Slight age soiling, fabric slits on one block, otherwise in very good condition.
