Published by Clark and Maynard, New York in 1852. 449 pp plus appendix, glossary, index and key to anatomical outline plates. First thus.


Rose and green cloth boards with ornate embossing. Title in gilt on spine. Some fading, but clean, with minimal edge wear and tight spine. Fine engraving on frontis.

Pages are surprisingly clean and unmarked, with no foxing to speak of. The 150 superb engravings are well detailed and in excellent condition. There are a couple of pages at the back advertising other books.

For being 157 years old, this book is tight, clean and in overall excellent condition. Quite a scarce edition as well.
