You may see a courier cost in the listing. This is only for those buyers that are happy to take the risk of having the item shipped in that manner.

We suggest you use our secure “door to door” shipping service. This service will offer you compensation up to the value of the sale price of the item, and is handled by ourselves, no automated handling just good old-fashioned care and attention. It will take longer and it costs more than the Royal mail but it’s a door to door service and the chance of damage is minimal.  Delivery will only under normal circumstances be made to the address registered with Paypal (This is for your protection). Prices may vary depending on the size and weight of the item and are inclusive of insurance.

Our driver is very busy and is only obliged to deliver to the kerbside of your address. However, the driver may offer assistance to move the item inside your property at his/her discretion. For some larger/heavier items a porter will be needed which adds a further £75 to the delivery cost of that item.

Using Standard Couriers.

Due to Breakages, damage and loss that has been incurred when using courier services (Royal Mail, Parcelforce etc).

We no longer use courier services unless it is specifically asked for by the seller.

If the buyer wishes to use these services on smaller items (this method of delivery is not available for larger items), then we will not be held liable for the item in any way once it leaves our premises. Please be aware that “antiques are classed as items over 100 years old” by the Royal Mail/Parcelforce, and as per their Terms & Conditions are therefore not eligible for insurance claims. Couple this with automatic conveyors and cages and heavy handling, perhaps you can understand why we have made this decision. Most of our items are very fragile and we want you to enjoy, cherish and admire them, we certainly don’t want you to resent them because of transit damage. It’s true what they say, “You get what you pay for in this life”. The choice is yours.

3^rd Party Collections

In certain circumstances with expensive items we allow certain shipping companies to pick up items from us. You must inform us prior to bidding if it is your intention to have the item picked up by a  3^rd party. The 3^rd party who is making the collection must state a collection date and a time that is acceptable to us within 3 days of the auction ending. Under no circumstances can this be left “open ended” as the buyer will then incur storage fees from 3 days after auction end until the item is picked up, The rate depends on the size of the item but will be a minimum of £2 per day. To this end, only use a reliable courier that can give this commitment. If the item needs to be wrapped then a minimum charge of £20 will be incurred by the buyer for our time and materials. Please be aware that the goods will not be released until all storage and packing fees have been paid. We will not be held liable for the item in any way once it leaves our premises. If the item needs to be palletised then you must supply the pallet.

Collection In Person

Quite often people wish to collect the item as it saves on delivery costs. However, please be aware that we offer this option as a way of assisting you. Therefore, when we state a time and date for collection it is your obligation to be there, We have to remove the item from secure storage for it to be ready for you to collect, If you are late then the chances are you will not be able to collect your goods as we have other commitments to other buyers, and the item will have been placed back into secure storage, and from that point forward you may incur handling and storage charges until another collection time slot can be arranged.  This may sound harsh but when someone is suppose to arrive at 11 am and turns up at 6pm because they “thought it would be nice to go to the coast” whilst they where up this neck of the woods. Or a buyer from France comes here once every 3 months to collect and expects us to store a wardrobe for 2 months until they are making their next collection, it starts to get a bit tiresome. So to all of you people who are punctual, I apologise most humbly. To those who aren’t - pay for delivery! If you wish to collect items in person please note the following.

Please bring a vehicle that is capable of carrying your purchase. Also bring enough people with you to load your purchase into your vehicle, as we are not obliged and are unable to assist you.

Overseas bidders.

You must contact us prior to bidding and please be aware that your only method of  payment is by PAYPAL. If you have no Paypal account then simply DO NOT BID. If you are using a 3^rd party courier to collect then you must adhere to the points made above. We do not arrange overseas shipments on your behalf.

CONDITION OF GOODS

All of our items are described to the best of our knowledge and ability. None of the items that we sell are new, so as you can appreciate all will have a degree of daily wear and possible repair to them. This is a part of their history and in our opinion is not a “flaw” in the pieces at all. It would be impossible to mention every imperfection or repair, but we do our best and try to mention and photograph anything we feel that should be brought to your attention as truthfully and as in depth as we possibly can. But, if we neglect to mention something, then we apologise but unfortunately it does not automatically qualify for a refund. All dates are a statement of our opinion and as so are only given as a guide, you must make your own mind up as to the age and condition of a piece. We are always happy to offer further photographic evidence if it is asked for to assist you in substantiating the age, condition and provenance. If you are unsure about the condition or the age of an item then do not bid. But please do not bid and then complain or ask questions later as your bid is final. Under no circumstances will we offer a refund due to a misunderstanding of the aforementioned points.

PAYMENT TERMS

Payment is by Paypal, Cash On Collection, or Postal Order only.

All Payments must clear prior to delivery/Collection and must be made within 3 days of the auction ending. If this cannot be done for any reason then you MUST contact us. Delivery may be delayed if funds have not cleared (mainly echeques are the problem here) Postal orders must be cashed prior to Delivery/Collection.
